Alcohol Testing in Salt Lake City

Six Alcohol Testing Methods for Different Timelines & Documentation Needs

Alcohol testing can answer different questions. Breath Alcohol assesses alcohol currently present, while other methods can identify recent use or provide a longer monitoring window. The right option depends on why you need the test, when testing must occur, and what documentation the requesting party requires.

At Fastest Labs of Salt Lake City, we draw on more than a decade of industry experience to provide accurate, confidential testing. Before visiting, confirm the required method, identification, collection procedure, and result recipient with your employer, court, agency, or other requesting organization.

Call (385) 355-7766 to discuss the required test and request a same-day appointment, or visit us as a walk-in.

Testing Made Easy

The process begins by identifying the requested method and reporting requirements. Result timing depends on the test selected and whether laboratory analysis is required.

Your visit generally includes:

  • Arrange testing: Request an appointment or use walk-in availability. After-hours and post-accident services are also available.
  • Confirm instructions: Bring identification and any authorization or paperwork supplied by the requesting party.
  • Complete collection: A certified collector confirms the requested test, completes collection, and documents the visit.
  • Receive results: Results are reported according to the selected method and the provided recipient instructions.

Alcohol Testing Methods & Their Purposes

Each option addresses a different timeframe and testing purpose. Detection periods are approximate and can vary by method and individual circumstances.

  • Breath Alcohol: Designed to assess alcohol currently present at the time of testing.
  • Saliva: Used to address recent alcohol use over a shorter period.
  • EtG / Ets Urine: Used to identify recent to mid-range alcohol use.
  • EtG Hair: Provides a longer historical view than Breath Alcohol or Saliva.
  • Nail: Offers another option for reviewing alcohol use across a longer period.
  • PEth Testing: Can be used to identify alcohol use over approximately three to four weeks.

Choose the Test That Matches the Request

Start with the question the test must answer. A test for current alcohol presence isn’t interchangeable with one intended to document recent use or a longer pattern.

Confirm these details before collection:

  • The required testing method
  • The approximate detection period requested
  • The collection and identification requirements
  • The required reporting format and result recipient
  • Whether a chain of custody is required, meaning a documented record of sample handling from collection through reporting

Don’t substitute a different method without approval from the requesting party. Bring any instructions or authorization so we can follow the requirements for your visit.
