When a Routine Drug Panel Isn’t Enough

A routine drug panel looks for a defined group of substances. Specialty analysis may be more appropriate when the requested substance falls outside that group or the concern involves an unidentified pill, syringe, liquid, food product, heavy metal, poison, or toxin. The two approaches may also differ in the material examined and the laboratory process required. Synthetic Cannabinoids and Novel Psychoactive Substances, for example, may require targeted analysis rather than a general screen.

Laboratory Confirmation & Result Interpretation

A result identifies substances or compounds within the scope of the ordered analysis. It doesn’t independently determine medical treatment, criminal responsibility, or how an employer, court, attorney, or other organization may use the findings.
