DOT Alcohol Testing in Columbus

In-Lab & Mobile DOT Alcohol Testing for Columbus Employers

We help Columbus employers and government entities arrange Department of Transportation alcohol testing with the correct personnel, equipment, forms, and procedures. Our services cover post-accident DOT alcohol testing, random alcohol testing, reasonable suspicion situations, return-to-duty, follow-up, and for-cause breath alcohol testing services.

Regulated testing isn’t the same as a general workplace alcohol test. The employer’s reason for testing and the applicable Department of Transportation agency rules determine which procedures and documentation apply. We offer in-lab appointments and mobile DOT alcohol testing for employers that need service at their location.

Arrange DOT alcohol testing for your workforce by calling (706) 525-5959 today.

Certified Alcohol Testing Solutions for Columbus Employers

Our certified breath alcohol technicians are trained in standard Department of Transportation testing procedures. We prioritize accurate documentation and confidentiality while providing clean facilities and short wait times.

A DOT breath alcohol test can provide results in about two minutes, although confirmation steps may require more time. Same-day appointments, walk-ins, mobile service, and after-hours post-accident service give employers options for both planned and time-sensitive events.

Our employer support can include:

  • Post-accident, random, return-to-duty, follow-up, and reasonable suspicion testing
  • Mobile testing conducted at an employer’s location
  • Policy creation and implementation
  • Ongoing program management and reporting test results
  • Broader DOT drug and alcohol testing support

Choose the Right Service for Each Testing Event

Tell us why the test is being arranged, which regulated workforce is involved, and whether you need in-lab or mobile service. We can help coordinate the appropriate service and explain the next steps.

We work with employers arranging a single test as well as businesses seeking ongoing program support. In either case, we keep scheduling straightforward while following the required procedures.

When Employers Arrange DOT Alcohol Testing

The reason for a regulated alcohol test affects the process, timing, and records involved. Employers should confirm the current rules of their governing Department of Transportation agency before ordering a test or responding to a reported violation or refusal.

Common regulated testing circumstances include:

  • Post-Accident Testing: Testing arranged after an accident that meets the applicable agency’s criteria
  • Reasonable Suspicion Testing: Testing based on specific, contemporaneous observations made by a trained supervisor
  • Random Alcohol Testing: Testing conducted through a compliant random selection program for covered employees
  • Return-to-Duty Testing: Testing required before an employee can resume covered safety-sensitive functions following the applicable process
  • Follow-Up Testing: Testing conducted according to an established follow-up plan

Pre-employment screening and random drug and alcohol testing may also be components of an employer’s broader workplace program. These categories aren’t interchangeable, and Department of Transportation procedures apply only when the employee and testing event fall within regulated requirements.

What Happens During a DOT Breath Alcohol Test

A certified breath alcohol technician can conduct both screening and confirmation breath tests. A Screening Test Technician may perform screening tests, but confirmation testing requires a certified breath alcohol technician using an approved evidential breath testing device.

We use federally approved Lifeloc Phoenix 6.0 portable breath alcohol testing equipment and provide the three-part Federal Alcohol Testing Form used for DOT testing. Our technicians verify the required information, conduct the test, document the result, and complete the form.

An initial screening may use an alcohol screening device or an evidential breath testing device. Under current 49 CFR Part 40 procedures, a screening result of 0.02 or higher may require a confirmation test. Employers should consult current Department of Transportation and agency-specific rules before deciding what action must follow a result.
