Marijuana Drug Testing in Centreville

Choose the Right Marijuana Screening Method

We provide marijuana screening through a 5-panel drug test, which screens for marijuana, cocaine, amphetamine, opiates, and PCP. Fastest Labs of Centreville can also detect marijuana through hair and fingernail testing, giving you options that cover different periods of prior use.

Our certified collectors conduct each collection in a clean, inviting facility. Whether you need a test for personal reasons or workplace requirements, we can explain the available specimen methods and follow the procedures for your selected test.

How Screening & Confirmation Work

Testing begins with collection of the selected specimen. Our collector handles the sample according to the requirements of that method, then the specimen undergoes an initial screening for THC, the primary intoxicating compound in marijuana.

An initial result may be negative or presumptive positive. A presumptive positive means the screening detected a substance at or above the test’s cutoff, but the result hasn’t been confirmed as positive.

We send presumptive positive results to a GC/MS-accredited laboratory. GC/MS, short for gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, uses a laboratory process to identify and measure the substance. This confirmation step helps rule out false positives before the result is treated as confirmed.

Timing depends on the specimen method and whether laboratory confirmation is required. We explain what to expect from your selected test and how the result will be reported.

Hear From Our Customers

“I worked with Brian on testing a drug sample. Although his company did not perform the specialty test I needed, he located a service provider who could. Brian handled everything from that point forward -- price negotiation, sample procurement, chain of custody, proper packaging and labeling for shipping, and receipt of results. The results were delivered on the date promised and for the price quoted. Brian is incredibly hardworking, client dedicated and trustworthy. Thank you Fastest Labs. Future customers need to look no further for better service.”

My company had called him at night, in foul weather, even during the snow storms that hit us last year.... Testing for Personal & Workplace Requirements

We offer standard individual testing for personal, employment, court-related, and other requirements. The appropriate method can depend on the reason for the test and the period being evaluated, so identify any instructions from the requesting organization before collection.

Workplace Testing Policies

We assist companies with creating custom screening policies tailored to their requirements. A workplace policy can define when testing applies, which substances are included, how results are reviewed, and what procedures follow a confirmed result.

Employers subject to federally mandated testing requirements must use urine testing. It’s the only method approved for federally mandated testing, so hair, fingernail, and saliva methods can’t replace it when federal rules control the test.

Marijuana Detection Windows by Specimen Type

A detection window is the period during which a specimen may show evidence of prior use. That period varies with the specimen type and the individual’s pattern of marijuana use, so no method provides the same history for every person.

Urine Testing
Marijuana may remain detectable in urine for approximately 1 to 30 days, depending in part on frequency of use. Urine testing provides immediate screening results, while verification of a positive result takes 1 to 3 days.

Hair Testing
Hair testing can show a history of use spanning up to 90 days. The test analyzes approximately 90 to 120 strands, and the available hair must meet the method’s collection requirements.

Body hair may reflect a period of up to one year. Because head hair and body hair can represent different periods, the specimen collected matters when interpreting the history covered by the test.

Fingernail Testing
Fingernail testing can detect drug use for up to eight months and provides results within 1 to 3 days. It offers a longer retrospective period than standard urine testing and doesn’t require a hair specimen.

Saliva Testing
Saliva testing provides rapid results within 1 to 3 days. Detection timing depends on the substance and test method, so we don’t apply a general detection period to marijuana screening.

Virginia Marijuana Laws & Workplace Testing

Virginia permits adults age 21 and older to possess marijuana, but legal recreational possession doesn’t create employment protection for recreational use. Subject to applicable law and policy, employers may require marijuana testing and may refuse to hire, discipline, or terminate an employee based on a positive result for off-duty recreational use.

Virginia law provides limited protection against discrimination based solely on lawful use of cannabis oil under a valid written medical certification. Medical cannabis oil is a cannabis-derived product used under that certification. Exceptions include workplace impairment, possession during work hours, conflicts with federal law or federal contracts, and certain defense industrial base employers.

Testing requirements and the consequences of a confirmed positive result depend on the employer’s written policy and any applicable legal exceptions. Employers should have their policies reviewed for compliance with current Virginia employment law and any federal requirements governing their industry.
