Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing

A non-invasive prenatal paternity test is a way to determine who the father is before the baby is born. Not knowing who the father of your unborn child is can be very stressful. Waiting until your child is born to find out can add to months of worry and anxiety.

Women can be tested when they are at least 7 weeks. A prenatal DNA test is totally non-invasive and safe for both the mother and fetus. It is done with a simple blood draw from the mother and a cheek swab from the alleged father. Both samples are then sent to the DNA lab for testing. Using an AABB accredited lab is very important. This is the gold standard in DNA testing.

Common Questions

What is tested?

The test analyzes the free-floating fetal DNA from the mother’s plasma and compares it to the mother’s own DNA profile. Once this is done the fetus’s profile is determined, that profile is then compared to the possible father’s and paternity can be determined.

When will I get the results?

Testing usually only take 3 to 5 business days

Will this test hold up in a court of law?

This test is a legal paternity test and will hold up in court and can help you when it comes to adding the father to the birth certificate or removing someone who is not the father.
